Why We Endorse Rose Yee
We need a change in who represents the North State (District 1 in the U.S. House of Representatives).
Rose believes in:
- Healthcare for Americans – All of us should have our medical needs met without the heavy burden of inflated medical bills.
- Education for Americans – All of our youth should have access to public colleges, universities, and trade schools without crippling student loans.
- Security for Americans – Protect Social Security, uphold workers’ rights, and a Federal Jobs Guarantee to provide Economic Security for all Americans
- Safety for Americans – A healthy and safe environment that promotes the well-being of all Americans.
- Care for Americans – A nation that puts the welfare of all Americans first, rather than the profiteering of billionaires.
And our current representative, Doug LaMalfa, has acted to take every one of them away.
Doug LaMalfa doesn’t care about the people of District 1. He gets government crop subsidies and assigned water rights. He enjoys laws that protect his ability to breathe fresh air. And gets a taxpayer-subsidized healthcare plan.
Then he votes no on one jobs bill after another. He votes not to give us protection from people with assault rifles. He even votes against letting people vote!
Just look at his record (below). Do you really feel more confident of the future with Doug LaMalfa representing you? We don’t.
- He voted against the Wildfire Response and Drought Resiliency Act, which would have brought us desperately needed resources to prevent fires and conserve water resources.
- He voted to eliminate the Affordable Care Act, which would have taken away health insurance from about 23 million people—with nothing in its place.
- He voted against expanding apprenticeship programs, which help young people and career changers learn new skills from experts on the job.
- At the same time, farms LaMalfa owns an interest in have received more than $5.5 million in government subsidies. In fact, data show he has received the most subsidies among members of Congress.
Let’s get someone new who cares about affordable housing, healthcare, social security, and other things we need in District 1. That’s why we endorse Rose Yee for U.S. House.
